Title Review

An outcome of a national seminar organized jointly by Barkatullah University, Bhopal and Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata, during August 2011—this edited volume comprises a score of scholarly and research oriented contributions by eminent social scientists from different academic and research institutions of India. The included papers deal with diverse aspects of tribal education in India, but broadly they focus on four select areas: nature of interface between tribals and education in the historical perspective; current status and trends of education among tribals of the country; impact and implications of globalization on education of tribals; and challenges and problems in the way of tribal education development—economic as well as non-economic. Many of the included studies are based on field work at local/regional level and thus provide micro-level empirical evidences.
