The Mahanirvana Tantra is believed to be one of the most revered of the Tantras. Consisting of over 2500 verses in fourteen chapters, it is in the form of replies given by Lord Shiva to the Devi Parvati on Mount Kailash in answer to her queries regarding the most appropriate shastra for men in the kaliyuga. The Sanskrit text of he Purana is presented here along with its romanised version and an English translation supported by relevant notes and an index. The Tantra text deals with the worship of Brahman, worship of Shakti, mantras and rites, the ten sacraments, the eternal dharma, installation of the devata and other aspects.
