Title Review

The volume undertakes a study of the legal status of non-resident Indians with reference to various issues of private international law affecting them. It involves an analysis of the various Hague Conventions on Private International Law relating to the subjects of marriage ad divorce, maintenance obligations, child abduction and custody, matrimonial property and testamentary succession. It examines the existing procedure for service of summons and makes a searching analysis of the Hague Convention on Service Abroad of Judicial and Extra-judicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters, 1965, assessing the feasibility of India becoming a party to it. It cites specific cases of conflicts and enforcement of legislation regarding the matter not only pertaining to NRIs but involving people of other nationalities as well.
