Title Review

This edited volume focuses on economic empowerment of women in India, particularly in the rural areas. Besides dis-cussing analytically the strategies adopted and achievements made over the last one decade or so, the book is enriched with empirical evidences, particularly from southern India, that tell about the ground realities highlighting the constraints, challenges as well as the emerging opportunities created by fast growing network of SHGs and micro finance institutions working for women empowerment in rural India. On the whole, the book contains a total of 26 contributed analytical papers, a vast majority of which are micro level empirical case studies. Contributing authors are eminent social scientists and researchers from different scientists and researchers from different Indian Universities.
