The work examines the Hindu-Muslim hostility and other contemporary issues challenging India today through an in-depth critical analysis of the play, Final Solutions. It thereby brings out Dattani’s contribution to present-day Indian drama. With an introduction to Indian drama in English and a discussion on Mahesh Dattani’s life and works, it examines characterisation of the play, its plot, use of stagecraft and dramatic devices in the play. It delves into its approach to themes of protest and anger, guilt-consciousness and communal riots which constitutes a harsh comment on the Indian society.
