Located in the north-western part of India, the state of Rajasthan forms the eastern extreme of the great arid and semi-arid belt of the world. The aridity and other factors influencing the vegetation in the region, have attracted the attention of scientists since long. Based on primary exploration and a close scrutiny of published literature, this book offers a systematic enumeration of 217 species of trees and shrubs from the area, belonging to 124 genera and 49 families. Enriched with a few colour photographs, the text of the book describes each species through its correct name, important synonyms, local name, distribution, local uses, etc. Phenological data have also been provided.
