|Title Review |
Anthologised in this volume are 8 well-researched articles on economic and political history of select regions of Rajasthan, during the period A D 1650-1850. The first 3 articles deal with the growth of towns and markets in south-eastern Rajasthan and the impact of Mughals on political and social institutions of the Rajputs. Next five articles encompass studies on land tax, agrarian trade and merchants, feudalism, and economic conditions in the western sub-region of Rajasthan. All the articles are well-documented and largely based on specific Rajasthani sources. A few maps and appendices are included.
Both the authors are widely-known analytical historians of Rajasthan: Prof. Masanori Sato teaches at Asia University, Japan; and Dr B L Bhadani is from Aligarh Muslim University, India.
