Title Review

Dr Pushpa Sharan deals with the fight of the untouchables to liberate India from colonial yoke. Discussing the origin of the caste system, the work deals with socio-religious movements in colonial India which attacked religious ills as well as the caste system and helped in awakening the scheduled caste population and reforming them. It views the freedom movement in Bihar, the struggle of Dr B R Ambedkar for the rights of untouchables and the Harijan movement of Mahatma Gandhi. It discusses the achievements of Scheduled Caste leaders like Jagjivan Ram, Bhola Paswan Sastri and Mungerlal Inderdeo Choudhary in the freedom movement.
