This book is the outcome of the responses to a brochure "Time for Stock Taking : A Swayamsevak Speaks" including two documents received from Dr Sheerang Godbole, a medical practioner and member of RSS for seventeen years -- circulated among the Hindu intelligentsia as well as members of RSS with a view to elicit Hindu response to these documents. The first document carried his comments on eight formulations of Sangh Parivar (RSS Body) and presented by him to a Seminar held at Pune, 27-28 July 1996 under the aegis of Prajna Bharati to review the political scene in India after 1996 Lok Sabha Elections and the fall of BJP government at the Centre. The second document is a letter which he wrote on 8 August, 1996 to Sri K S Sudarshan, Joint Secretary of the RSS, regarding Sarva Panth Samadar Manch (a platform for extending equal honour to all systems of worship) floated by the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) which works for the welfare of labour under RSS inspiration.

Over 80 responses included here have been compiled under five sectoins. Section -1 carries two articles -- one by David Frawley and the other was written as a working paper for a Seminar held at the Deen Dayal Research Institute, New Delhi, in 1983. This section provides the perspective to the other sections. Section - 2 includes 62 responses to the brochure and are presented in an alphabetical order with reference to the surnames of the writers. Section - 3 carries two articles which draw a clear distinction between Dharma on the one hand and Dogma on the other. Section-4 consists of six schoarly reviews of a very profound study of Islam "Why I am not a Muslim" by Ibn Warag published in the USA in 1995. Section-5 reproduces 30 reports from various newspapers regarding saying and doings of some Sangh Parivar leaders aimed at winning over Muslims.
