Dr Keshab Bhattarai, who teaches economics at the University of Hull, UK, traces in his present book the origin of current economic crises in Nepal, identifies its consequences, and provides solutions based on a politico-economic framework against the background of the April 2006 revolution which has brought the Maoists to the forefront of Nepalese politics. The first part of the book examines the situation of economic growth and income distribution in the country making use of a general equilibrium model and Nash bargaining framework. In the second part, Bhattarai presents a more objective and detailed analysis of economic development in Nepal since 1995, focusing particularly on capital accumulation, investment, and redistribution of income among the households. | | Top |
