Located in the north-western part of the country, the Rajasthan state of India has a large variety of soils ranging from sandy soils covered with sand dunes, to medium and fine textured soils of alluvial plain. However, a comprehensive database and soil resource map for the entire State has not been available till now. This publication fills the gap. It contain exhaustive data on physiography—soil series association, soil taxonomy and classification, land capability and land irrigability classification for the whole of Rajasthan. District-wise soil series maps and land capability maps alongwith the land irrigability of soil series have also been included. Detailed morphological and physico-chemical characteristics of the soil series are appended to the main text.
