Title Review

The Jnaneswari, a classic Marathi work on the Bhagavadgita, was originally written by Jnaneswar in 1290 A.D. It was V.K. Rajwade, an exalted scholar, who after editing one of "the earliest Marathi manuscripts" thereof, also pioneered study of Marathi Grammar. However, the present translator -- a celebrated Kannada writer -- who possesses a thorough knowledge of both Kannada and Marathi languages, successfully takes "the reader nearer the import of this sacred text" with his first-ever English translation.
