Title Review

This book deals with Mahatma Gandhi’s tryst with Brahmacharya (celibacy). Explaining the theory and practice of Brahmacharya, it makes a critical appraisal of Gandhi’s close association with women, especially viewed through the spectrum of his philosophy of celibacy.

It records dialogues that took place for nearly five decades between Gandhi and a bevy of women, including Millie Graham Polak, Sonja Schlesin, Esther Faering, Nilla Cook, Margarete Spiegel, Mirabehn, Prabhavati, Kanchan Shah, Sushila Nayyar, Manu Gandhi and Saraladevi Chowdharani, who encompassed the entire range of human emotions as depicted in the aesthetic tradition of India.
