Title Review

The internal order is increasingly turning from a unipolar one—dominated by the USA after the Cold War—to a polycentric one, with the rise of India and China as global powers and Russia, South Korea and Japan assuming significant roles. This volume on India-Russia ties delves into aspects of their strategic partnership, the need for them to further build on their convergences, and their cooperation in civil nuclear energy, space and science and technology. The study throws light on the China-Pakistan strategic nexus, the Sino-US equation, Sino-Indian relations and US strategies in East Asia which have seen a shift in recent times. The seminar presentations insist on India and Russia forging a new relationship based on the Indo-Russian framework and not one based on the earlier Indo-Soviet model. They analyse how the emergence of India as a nuclear power and relative decline of US credibility have altered the strategic scenario in Asia.
